https://www.hartnell.edu/sites/default/files/library_documents/library/apa-7th.pdf Topic: Select a 5-10 year period of time and analyze the microeconomic issues impacting a particular company during that period of time. You should be looking for issues and topics that we have covered in this course and how you can apply those concepts to a real world situation. The same company and time period will be used for all both parts of the project. Requirement: Select a company and a time period that you will use for analysis during the semester. All topics below must be included in the paper with a minimum of 1 paragraph for each, plus and appropriate intro and conclusion. Give a description of the company during the time period for analysis. This should be roughly a 5-10 year period of time, not the entire history of the company. What products produced? Are they identical or differentiated? Does this change during the analysis period? Explain. Discuss the determinants of demand and how you see the consumer preferences influencing the market. Analyze the price elasticity of demand. Build a case as to why the demand for this product is elastic, inelastic or unitary elastic A minimum of 5 sources is required for this section. Submit a report that is roughly 3-4 pages of content, typed double-spaced. This paper is a formal, college-level paper which means that it should be written in that style. Do not use personal pronouns like “I,” “we,” “me,” “you,” etc. It should be well written with a introduction and conclusion and use appropriate citation. Download Office 365 (Links to an external site.) Submission: Paper must be submitted in Canvas through this assignment. Verify that you paper has been submitted to the Canvas assignment. If you can’t see the assignment, then I can’t see the assignment and I can’t grade it. The assignment will close exactly at 11:59 pm on the due date. It is your responsibility to submit the paper by that time. Even if it is only 1 minute late, it will not be accepted. Do not wait until the last minute to submit. You never know what could happen. You will have the opportunity to make revisions for a better grade, but that means you need to submit on time so I can grade the paper and provide feedback. Similarity Percentage: The similarity percentage should be less than 25% for this paper. In my experience, most students who have higher similarity percentages are not purposely plagiarizing, but have either used too many quotes or inadvertently used similar vocabulary, phrasing and sentence structure to the original source and that will also be flagged. If the similarity percentage is higher than 40%, the entire paper will receive a zero. You may submit the paper as many times as you like before the due date to check the similarity percentage. Please note that after the first 3 submissions the report will be generated automatically, but for all subsequent submission you will have to wait at 24 hours for the report. Research: Each student will develop and analysis based on the information provided and the questions asked in each activity. Research is required and the best place to find that is through the Hartnell Library. ( Works Cited Format: Must use APA 7 citation format. ( All references should be cited (5 sources minimum are required) Wikipedia is not an acceptable source! Each project needs to be in a single document (.doc or .pdf formats would work best) and submitted in Canvas through the appropriate assignment. Typed, double-spaced in a readable 12-point font with margins no larger than 1” on all sides. NOTE: Feedback from last paper, please choose a company other than Yahoo!; I failed previous attempt from different writer. Tina Esparza-Luna just made a new comment on the submission for Maria Machado-Sanchez for Research Project Part 1 Maria, I can see that you have done a lot of research on this topic, but it really doesn’t work for this assignment. In so many ways, the paper as written does not meet the requirements of this assignment. I have provided feedback on the paper, but I will urge you again to change the topic or you are risking getting a very low grade on both this part and Part 2. 1. This paper needs a proper intro paragraph. 2. It looks like you tried to combine company background/history and products produced into the same paragraph, but these are 2 separate topics and should each have their own paragraph to allow for more detail. 3. I don’t how profit margins are relevant to the required topics for this assignment unless you are relating it to company background, but then this paragraph needs to be rewritten to make that more clear. 4. There is a header that is called “Determinants of Demand,” but then I see very little about the actual determinants of demand. I see that you tried to relate this to consumer preference, but there is very little about consumer preference in this section. 5. Then you jump to consumer income. But how is consumer income relevant for a FREE product? 6. The discussion about elasticity does not make sense because they are not selling a product to consumers. I appreciate that you tried to use the Income statement to analyze profit and elasticity, but it doesn’t work because to accurately calculate elasticity you need to look at the change in price for a specific product and the resulting change in quantity. You can’t do that at an aggregate level. Everything from page 6 on should be removed from this paper because it does not meet the requirements of this assignment. 7. The paper needs a proper conclusion paragraph. 8. The references are not properly formatted. Here is a link to see how to correctly format APA 7 references. I am going to reiterate what I told you initially about this topic. I don’t think it works for this assignment because there is nothing that is directly being sold to consumers. The direct “consumers” of Yahoo are really their advertisers because Yahoo makes money based on views. You may be able to sort of make it work for this part of the assignment and get a passing grade, but I have no idea how you will be able to complete Part 2. I would strongly urge you to change the topic now and rewrite Part 1 on an appropriate topic and then you will have a better chance at writing a strong paper for Part 2. Part 1 and Part 2 must be written on the same company. Everyone has the chance to make revisions and resubmit this assignment. I’m sure that if you choose a more appropriate topics that you can significantly improve the grade.
