The same company and time period will be used for all both parts of the project. Requirement: Select a company and a time period that you will use for analysis during the semester. All topics below must be included in the paper with a minimum of 1 paragraph for each, plus and appropriate intro and conclusion. Give a description of the company during the time period for analysis. This should be roughly a 5-10 year period of time, not the entire history of the company. What products produced? Are they identical or differentiated? Does this change during the analysis period? Explain. Discuss the determinants of demand and how you see the consumer preferences influencing the market. In so many ways, the paper as written does not meet the requirements of this assignment. I have provided feedback on the paper, but I will urge you again to change the topic or you are risking getting a very low grade on both this part and Part 2. 1. This paper needs a proper intro paragraph. 2. It looks like you tried to combine company background/history and products produced into the same paragraph, but these are 2 separate topics and should each have their own paragraph to allow for more detail. 3. I don’t how profit margins are relevant to the required topics for this assignment unless you are relating it to company background, but then this paragraph needs to be rewritten to make that more clear. 4. There is a header that is called “Determinants of Demand,” but then I see very little about the actual determinants of demand. I see that you tried to relate this to consumer preference, but there is very little about consumer preference in this section. 5. Then you jump to consumer income. But how is consumer income relevant for a FREE product? 6. The discussion about elasticity does not make sense because they are not selling a product to consumers. I appreciate that you tried to use the Income statement to analyze profit and elasticity, but it doesn’t work because to accurately calculate elasticity you need to look at the change in price for a specific product and the resulting change in quantity. You can’t do that at an aggregate level. Everything from page 6 on should be removed from this paper because it does not meet the requirements of this assignment. 7. The paper needs a proper conclusion paragraph. 8. The references are not properly formatted. Here is a link to see how to correctly format APA 7 references. I am going to reiterate what I told you initially about this topic. I don’t think it works for this assignment because there is nothing that is directly being sold to consumers. The direct “consumers” of Yahoo are really their advertisers because Yahoo makes money based on views. You may be able to sort of make it work for this part of the assignment and get a passing grade, but I have no idea how you will be able to complete Part 2. I would strongly urge you to change the topic now and rewrite Part 1 on an appropriate topic and then you will have a better chance at writing a strong paper for Part 2. Part 1 and Part 2 must be written on the same company. Everyone has the chance to make revisions and resubmit this assignment. I’m sure that if you choose a more appropriate topics that you can significantly improve the grade.
