I need a paper on Ethics based on Russ Shafer’s three main ethical theories: 1. Value theory 1: What is the goodlife?What is worth pursuing for its own sake? How do we improve our lot in life? 2. Normative ethics: What are our fundamental moral duties? Which character traits count as virtues, which as vices, and why? Who should our role models be? Do the ends always justify the means, or are there certain types of action that should never be done under any circumstances? 3. Metaethics: What is the status of moral claims and advice? Can ethical theories, moral principles, or specific moral verdicts be true? If so, what makes them true? Can we gain moral wisdom? If so, how? Do we always have good reason to do our moral duty? Each theory should be completely defined and described, mentioning founding and contributing philosophers. Each theory should also be analyzed on positives and negatives when applied on common daily moral dilemmas. I would also like to touch on Erich Fromm’s ideas of humanistic and authoritarian ethics and a little on Spinoza’s ideas. The idea is to kind of critique the pitfalls in the three main theories and maybe offer a new way to see things. For the conclusion I would like to kind of propose a new way of looking at ethics, summarizing the positive points from each theory although I understand this might be difficult. The bibliography must be in Vancouver format. One last requirement is that the writing is not super high level philosophy, I want to be able to understand it and explain it to others. But feel free to display your knowledge about the topic. I will also be reading about ethics, so I’ll be able to follow you. I attached Fromm’s book. Let me know if you need additional materials.
