For example, Covid-19 demonstrated how fragile the aviation industry is as lockdowns and social distancing restrictions significantly impacted airlines. Hundreds of airlines across the globe ceased operations, and others were forced to furlough and lay off employees. The paper will provide examples of times when the aviation industry soared and when airlines were forced to declare bankruptcy. Although it is inevitable to prevent cycles, there are ways to manage them better; strategies such as modifications on their business model, pricing policies to generate higher profits, better forecasting abilities, and more strategical investments might help airlines navigate during the downturns.
