Evaluation Plan Assignment This assignment is a summative evaluation of your learning in the course. This will be your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of what you have learned in this course and evaluation terms and concepts as well as your ability to apply them. Students are encouraged to meet with me during office hours to get clarification or help on this assignment. I also encourage you to conduct a peer review and work with the CBU Writing Center to conduct a review of your plan before submission. You should propose to evaluate an existing program found in the peer-reviewed literature (see topic areas below). Your evaluation plan should include but not limited to: Program Rational: Describe the need for the program or intervention. What is happening to whom and how often? Why is this an issue? What evidence is there to suggest that the program is needed? What is the priority population? Program Description: Describe the program. Who is implementing the program and what is their organization’s experience/capacity? Who are the staff and other stakeholders? What is the theoretical basis for the program? What evidence is there regarding its effectiveness? What are the specific program or intervention activities? How are they implemented? Develop and provide a logic model (1-page max). Evaluation Approach/Questions: What approach to evaluation are you going to use? Describe it. What are the key evaluation questions to be examined? Process Evaluation: Describe how you intend to collect process evaluation data. How will you track how dose, attendance, deletions, adherence, etc.? Impact/Outcome Evaluation: What are the evaluation questions? Describe what and how you intend to collect impact/outcome evaluation data including: Sampling and Participant Recruitment. The proposal should describe how participants will be recruited for the evaluation. Statistical power/sample size should be estimated and consistent with study design. The proposal should describe the statistical power analysis used to arrive at the sample size proposed. Information regarding IRB and consent procedures should be included. Evaluation Design. Describe the research design for the impact evaluation? How will this design allow you to determine program impacts? Data Collection Tools and Measures. The proposal should describe the data collection instruments that will be used to answer the evaluation questions. The application should describe the content of the proposed instruments and any available psychometric properties. The proposal should articulate a plan for data collection, including who will be collecting the data, and specifically how data will be collected Data Analysis. Describe what statistical procedures you will conduct for both process and impact/evaluation data. Reporting and Evaluation Use: How and when will evaluation information be reported? How will the use of the findings of the evaluation be used to encourage evaluation utilization? The proposal should be no longer than 12 pages in length excluding the title page, summary (abstract), TOC, and references pages using a word processor and adhere to the guidelines set forth in the APA Publication Manual (7th Ed.) for student papers. Attachments in the appendices do not count toward the page limit. There is no minimum page limit. You will submit an Adobe PDF (.pdf) in the submission folder on Blackboard by the due date. Your evaluation plan must propose to conduct an evaluation of a school or community-based program of one of the following areas: • Adolescent ATOD prevention • Obesity prevention
