exercise, you will research an example/case study of pollution prevention used in the real
world.
To help you get started finding an example that is interesting to you, you might look at the
EPA’s P2 website (epa.gov/p2) and their associated site where they have links to a variety of
case studies and to databases containing lists of case studies (https://search.epa.gov/epasearch/?querytext=pollut…). This is certainly not the only place to look online; there are many
examples. You can also search under various other names that are used for the same basic ideas.
E.g. green engineering, E3 (economy, energy, and environment), zero pollution, etc.
Write a short summary of your case of chose: no more than 2 pages (single spaced, 1 inch
margins, 12 pt font). In your summary, make sure you include the following:
The name of the company/facility
The challenge(s) they tried to overcome
Their goals
Why they believed it was important
Actions that they took, how and why it works
Results – what are the benefits and costs
