able to recognize and discuss themes and ideas in these books that relate to our course material.
You may organize your essay as a list of important ideas in the book, discussing how each of those
ideas relates to the course material. To surpass expectations and merit a grade of A- or higher, however,
you will need to go beyond a listing approach and convincingly present the relationship between course
material and book content in an argumentative style (meaning that your essay would document the
links between course material and book content through a well-supported overarching argument about
the significance of global connectivity).
While working on this essay you may consult the assigned readings, your lecture notes, and the in-class
activity materials, but you must work alone and submit your own work.
