Hello, my name is, and I will be your social worker.
How are you?
Jason: I am doing well and you?
N: I am well, thank you.
N: The reason why am here is to see how you have been doing.
Jason: I have been under depression and stress. My father was killed in Iraq during the war in 2006. Then my siblings left the country and my mom and I became alone from a family of 6. I got kidnapped, but I escaped from them. We had to travel to another country to be able to immigrate to an unknown country. We did not have any money. Our businesses were burned, home, and everything in general. We went to Lebanon, I was only 16 and my mom was an old lady, we could not make it financially. I had to work even if I was underage. Back to the story, when I used to leave my school and walk home, I used to see dead bodies, I was sick of seeing people’s heads chopped and placed on their backs. It was very scary. I used to always then when will be my turn. Since this was daily.
N: I am very sorry to hear what you have been going through. Can you explain how your father die? And how your sibling left without you and your mom?
Jason: There was a boom explosion, and he was in that location, so he disappeared. My siblings left because leaving the country and crossing borders needed money, we did not have enough, and that is why mom and I had to do it the other way. Anyways, long story short, I personally always think of all of what was going on, walking between dead people, seeing dead people all around, used to live in fear all the time, etc.
N: This is a very tough situation, I am very sorry Matthew. Tell me about your accomplishments in the U.S.
Jason: Well, I arrived in the U.S. and did not speak any English. I went to high school, and I graduated with a 3.8 GPA. Then I went to Community college and studied for 3 years. Transferred to SDSU where I earned my BA in Accounting. Now I am working toward my MBA and am almost finished. I have been working for 8 years in the same job. I have accomplished a lot in life, but the only fear that I always see in my sleep is dead people. This has been the problem.
