Countries around the world have been impacted immensely by the COVID-19 pandemic. They have chosen and implemented different strategies to slow down the widespread of the virus and save lives. These strategies have been helpful in controlling the disease and buying them time to work on the cure and developing vaccine, while still taking care of the patients. Shutting down economies around the world to slow down this deadly disease, even though necessary, comes at a huge cost. In macroeconomics, we learn about the major components of the economy, and utilizing demand/supply models see how government policies help the economy stay on track. This is very much related to what’s been going on at the moment, in terms of the efficiency of these policies implemented around the world both in short-term and long-term horizon.
For this project, you will chose a country and study the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the major components of their economy. Teams will study what policies they have implemented to help saving their economies from falling into deep recession and possibly even depression.
You will try to answer these questions about the economies you chose to research:
6- what are the policies in regard to opening the economy and starting economic activities again?
7- Are the country’s respond to this pandemic, and the governmental policies to deal with this public health crisis related in any shape or form to the size of the economy and the economic well-being of the country? If yes, how?
