1. Gang Activity – Background and Problem – As a result of police and community neglect the African American Community has had a surge in violent crime, which is contrary to the national trend. Class one crimes have risen to an unprecedented level and have gained national attention. The rise in crime is associated with a new street gang as well as their importation and selling of street-level drugs. The part one crimes include murder, robbery, rape, and more recently carjacking and home invasion robberies of the affluent members of the community. This gang’s drug of choice is Methamphetamine. The gang has declared that the Black Community is its kingdom and the citizens are their subjects. The gang is known as the “Earl Flynns” a street gang that was notorious in the 1970s in the City of Detroit.
2, Serial Rape – Background and Problem – In addition to the gang violence your city has experienced a series of serial rapes. The police department has no idea of where, to begin with tracking this suspect. The chief wants to know where you would begin your search and why? It is believed that the robberies will continue especially since the suspects have not been caught and that they are escalating in their violence.
Since you are the new director of the future unit the chief has tasked you with writing a research paper that he can present to the city commission where he will be asking for funding for the Intelligence Unit.
Your job is to address these three problems detailing for the chief and city commission how intelligence analysis would assist in tracking these criminals and stopping future acts of violent crime. This will require you to do some extensive research and discuss a number of tools that intelligence analysts use. You can use any resource to support your argument. You must use a minimum of six (6) references, the paper must be 2000 words and in an APA format (to include a title page, running head, and page numbers).
