My name is Mariam. I am 30 years old. I already did my master’s degree in Armenia in Culturology. Here I decided to learn Sociology, as I am always interested in humans’ behaviors, patterns, reasons for social differences. Sociology examines human behaviors, organization, structure and change of social groups and institutions. This knowledge we need to use in our everyday life to be succeeded. For my major Anthropology is not required, but to better understand these patterns I decided to start from the beginning. I already took Antro 101 class, and I learned so many new things, I am sure we will learn more here. Fun facts about me, is that I was inspired by my daughter to go to LAVC when I was cleaning the house. Now, I am so grateful to her for that inspiration. The rule that I have in my life is to feel Empathy. Empathy is one of the most important and beautiful feelings in our life.

My name is Ellen and I am really happy to be in this class with you all. I am a high school student, and I am taking some classes for credits. But I chose this class specifically because I have always viewed us, humans, as incredible beings. I am excited to learn about all the things that make us human and influence our world. I am specifically interested in learning about the differences in cultural backgrounds and how that connects people together and how it makes them distinctive. I am also interested in learning about genetics, because it has always interested me how everyone has different types of genes. Some interesting facts about me are that I am Armenian, I am the head Editor of my school’s newspaper, and some of my hobbies are playing the piano and cooking. I recently started playing the piano and it has been a joy for me. I love to cook, but specifically I love baking. I started baking during quarantine, and it has become a hobby for me ever since. Some of my favorite things to bake are chocolate chip cookies. A little bit about me is that I was born in the US, but went to Armenia at the age of 3. I went to school there, until 4th grade, and came back to America at 9 years old. I have lived here ever since, and now I am 16 years old. This is my 9th college class that I am taking along with Anthro 101. I started Anthro 101 a little bit earlier and am loving it so far, and it makes me interested in this class because this is a variation of Anthropology 101. This is my first lab class and I am really excited to be doing something new and different.
