Dear Ms. Andrea Hart,
I am writing to you to introduce a program that could increase access to mental health opportunities for the communities of Lodi, CA. There is a need to increase mental health initiatives and collaborate with community-based organizations to reduce mental health disparities affecting these communities. We believe that the implementation of an online educational campaign about the importance of mental health would improve health outcomes by increasing enrollment and participation in mental health programs through the distribution of information via social media and text. A similar program has been implemented by the Loop program at Get Well Network where participants aged 12-32 signed up to receive mental health resources through their medical insurance in the Bay Area. The program promotes community resources that help community members get support to create sustainable and positive mental health outcomes.
According to the San Joquin County Health Needs Assessment of 2022, the health need that was of the highest priority was mental health/behavioral health including substance abuse.¹ Involving community-based organizations throughout the process can streamline the processes of receiving mental health and behavioral health resources. Similarly, the Loop program has been able to connect patients to over 30+ community-based health resources in the Bay Area by partnering directly with various community-based organizations. The projected cost of the program is $30 for the year-based subscription but can be waivered depending on the health insurance plan. It is important to leverage community assets in San Joaquin County with existing partnerships, momentum, current programming, and assets that address the health needs of this population.
Please consider attending an informational session that will introduce the Loop Program to other communities in need of mental health resources. I hope to hear your feedback and thoughts on the program to see if it could be useful for Lodi, CA population. The Loop program can bridge the gap that many people need to improve their mental health.
